Restaurant Week, Fashion Week, Fleet Week, Internet Week And More to Headline Festival Organized By International Academy of Weeks

New York, NY (April 01, 2011) -New York City will come to life this September when a diverse coalition of week-long celebration enthusiasts and employees, including key founders and influencers from Fashion Week, Internet Week, Restaurant Week, Advertising Week, National Pasta Week, Wellness Week, Chili Cook Off Week, Pub Crawl Week and more, kick off the first-ever Weeks Week.

Celebrating New York City's thriving Weeks industry, the 7-day festival will take place in venues throughout the city — from performance spaces to aquariums —from September 19th to September 25th, 2011.
The festival is organized by the International Academy of Weeks (IAW), in cooperation with the Mayor's Office of Weeks and Months.

"Weeks Week will acknowledge New York City's global leadership in cultivating weeks that celebrate our various industries," said Internet Week Co-Chairman David-Michel Davies. "It will capture the energy, diversity, and creative spirit that are a hallmark of New York’s thriving Week industry. Who knows, if it’s successful, maybe we can expand it to an entire month.”
An eclectic roster of New York's Week leaders is helping to shape the inaugural festival, which will close with the first-ever Weeks Night, honoring The Discovery Channel’s Shark Week with a lifetime achievement award. “Shark Week is a true pioneer of week-long celebrations,” said Davies. “Over the course of 23 years, it has truly demonstrated the mass appeal of spending seven days celebrating one subject. It is an inspiration.”
