INTERNET WEEK NEW YORK 2012 SET FOR MAY 14TH – 21ST, 2012
Leading Internet Festival to Celebrate Fifth Year
New York, NY (September 19, 2011) – Gearing up for the fifth annual Internet Week New York, organizers announced today that next year’s festival will take place from May 14th – 21st, 2012.
Since its debut in 2008, Internet Week New York has quickly become one of the world’s top festivals celebrating digital culture, as well as a global showcase for New York City’s thriving technology industry. Internet Week New York 2012 is expected to bring more than 30,000 people from around the world to nearly 300 events at the festival’s headquarters and at dozens of locations throughout the city.
Highlights from the 2011 HQ included keynotes by Senator Chuck Schumer and The New York Times' Nicholas Kristof, Story Worldwide & Google’s Digital Archeology, the Yahoo! Provoke Summit, and panels featuring speakers like Judah Friedlander, Arianna Huffington, Buzzfeed founder Jonah Peretti, and Gothamist founder Jake Dobkin. Many of Internet Week’s panels were programmed directly by the public through “Make the Stage,” a program allowing the public to vote for their favorite panel ideas.
Across the city, festival-goers experienced demos by the New York’s hottest tech startups at NY Tech Meetup, vied to be named King and Queen of the sold-out Webutante Ball, watched Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Tyra Banks and Clive Davis at The NewFront 2011, and celebrated the Internet’s best and brightest at The 15th Annual Webby Awards.
“The success of Internet Week New York has closely paralleled the growth of New York’s constantly-evolving digital community,” said David-Michel Davies, Chairman of Internet Week New York. “We’re looking forward to presenting an even bigger and better festival in 2012 that brings people together to exchange ideas, chart the Internet’s future, and have some fun in the process.”
Living up to its reputation as the ultimate crowd-sourced festival, any organization – from artists and investment banks to startups and meet-ups – can host an event during Internet Week New York 2012. To learn more about sponsorship and event opportunities, visit http://www.internetweekny.com
